My collaborator Aaron Gang of Aaron Gang Photography and I were planning a daylong “Pump Up Your Profile” event this spring at his beautiful studio in the Wicker Park neighborhood of Chicago. With one visit and at one great price, professionals could get a new headshot from Aaron, and I’d do a rewrite of their bio.

Well, that isn’t happening yet. (Contact me if you want to know when it’s rescheduled.)

In the meantime, he’s launched The Open For Business Portrait Project to show us the small business owners in his neighborhood who are #openforbusiness, the entrepreneurs who are masking up every day because they want to be there for their longtime customers.

I’m sharing a few of my favorites here, but I recommend you follow him on Facebook and Instagram to see more and read Aaron’s stories about business owners around Chicago.

Mon Lung shut down for a couple weeks, but manager Lane Yuen said customers are as excited as he is that the Chinese restaurant staple is back open. He said callers say, “Oh my god you’re open. I’m so happy!” Photo by Aaron Gang

Little Beans Café in Bucktown and Evanston has special costumed characters greeting customers at their drive-through. “Saturday, the line was around her building, with parents gushing with gratitude for being open and for bringing some special fun to brighten children’s days,” Aaron wrote.
